sarah mclay
Sarah McLay is a photographer and mixed media artist originally from New Zealand.
After taking some time out to travel after art school she eventually landed in Melbourne where she is raising a family and exploring her creativity.
By combining a slow shutter speed and a small aperture, Sarah created this photographic series entitled “Devout”. Giclée printed on Cotton Rag, the entities in these images have both an unbodied and painterly quality.
These ethereal, anthropomorphic images explore the artist’s relationship with her Mother’s religious belief systems during her life and death. Like x-rays, these representations of otherworldly presences populate a re-construction of the warped, empty spaces vacated by belief after death.
