Maji Na Moto by Igor Derkoun | 16 – 18 November 2012
Opening Night | 6.00pm Thursday 15 November
Igor studied Industrial Design at Monash University, graduating in 2010. While his fellow students wisely opted for relevant electives such as furniture and automotive design, he chose figure drawing, betraying his long-held interest in the human form.
Maji Na Moto means ‘water and fire’ in Swahili, a language spoken in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Maji Na Moto presents a series of African and Afro-American faces in pastel and graphite. This is the first time Igor’s work will be exhibited outside of an academic context.
