I am a painter of still life. Much of my output has been concerned with the shapes of utilitarian ceramic vessels. My work has evolved from fairly stark, predominately earth coloured realism with an obvious respect for the work of Giorgio Morandi, to a less formal style using more saturated colours and overlapping shapes as illustrated in this exhibition.
This is a departure from the calm of my previous paintings.
The paintings are relatively small, mostly 40x50cm, because I wish to maintain focus on the colour and tonal changes in an intimate area. My earlier work has been shown in four solo, and a number of group exhibitions and competitions during the last four years.
I hope you enjoy the show.
