Claire Lefebvre was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. She began painting at the age of 15 and followed her creative drive and passion through a Visual Arts degree at Monash University, majoring in Painting.
She has been practicing as a Professional Artist since 2005 and in 2011, completed a solo residency in Barcelona, Spain. Claire’s work is diverse and her use of materials spans oils, watercolour, synthetic polymer, inks, charcoal, mixed media, gouache, pencil, resin, impasto and layered gesso.
As a young, independent Artist, Claire is working diligently to refine her skills and follow her passion for creating art. She is dedicated to understanding, documenting, researching and exposing the unique ways that people relate to each other, and the world around them.
“I strive to make my work as honest as possible in order for it to be meaningful to both myself and the viewer. My sheer awe and amazement at the beauty of life’s moments drives my work. I try to recall experiences and senses to create beautiful artwork. This process is intended to help myself, and the viewer, to make sense of the world around us.”
Claire’s extensive travels over the last 5 years have had a profound effect on her painting and her approach to recording her experience of the human condition.
Her portfolio has recently evolved towards abstraction, from her beginnings as a portrait artist. She is excited about where this journey into abstraction will take her.
