Chico has had a long standing love for art. His true artistic nature came into full fruition late in 2013. His travels to European and other Asian countries and Cities in Australia finally gave him the chance to express himself in the medium of painting.
Chico is an Interior Designer. He received his certification from the Philippine School of Interior Design in 2004, a far cry from the business and computer degree he earned while at De La Salle University – College of St. Benilde in Manila back in 1998. His love for mid- century modern furniture and culture is evident in all aspects of his life, from restoring vintage cars to repurposing vintage furniture. He has a keen eye for aesthetics, which helps in his other passion, designing and building unique furniture pieces made from salvaged wood taken from abandoned ancestral homes. A true artist at heart, in his down time, Chico is an accomplished musician and music events producer.
Although his transition into painting is fairly recent, Chico carries over his vintage-retro aesthetic to his works on canvas. He plays with the juxtaposition of geometry and the natural form. His recent pieces play with the idea of the golden ratio and true beauty. His monochromatic scheme with bursts of color are a nod to one of his favorites, Mondrian. In their totality, Chico’s works are modern-vintage, a criteria idiosyncratic to Chico alone.
