sneaky pics of our first exhibition

With our permit issued last Tuesday, it has been full steam ahead!

  • The window sign-writing has been completed as per your vote.
  • Furniture has been delivered and assembled, although some of it is a bit suspect!
  • Nine artists have been confirmed for the ‘grand opening’ exhibition.
  • Work has been delivered by eight of them with the final artworks arriving tomorrow.

We’ll be open to the public from 12.00pm next Friday 27 May 2011.

The grand opening group exhibition by Brian Mangano, Janicke Johansen, Michell Guo, Mark Hammon, Wolfgang Glowacki, Pete Goodlet, Mark Harman, Kylie Mouat, and Kate Hursthouse, will run until 26 June 2011.

Please drop by to say hi and so that we can both put some faces to names!

For those of you that may not be able to make it, here are some super sneaky pics that I took earlier today whilst curating my first exhibition.

introducing georgia laughton

Today we are very excited to open the first online exhibition by photographer, artist and all-round good person, Georgia Laughton.

Georgia’s first exhibition with one hundredth gallery is titled ‘Snooze York’.

This collection of shots were taken on one of Georgia’s adventures away… heading to explore one of the most over-photographed cities in the world! Exploring the city and shooting at night, it was discovered that for a city that supposedly never sleeps, there is certainly much snoozing happening!

Georgia’s online exhibition and biography can be found on the NOW SHOWING tab above, or by clicking here.

introducing isabelle hope grahm

Today we are very excited to open an online exhibition by our first international artist, Isabelle Hope Grahm.

Isabelle hails from California in the United States.

The imagery reflected in Isabelle’s paintings represent her translation of the flow of life and the shapes that emerge from those flows.  Isabelle’s varied use of line, color and form give unique voice to her views spanning from the Macrocosm to the Microcosm.

Isabelle’s first exhibition with one hundredth gallery is titled ‘Ambient Outreach’.

Isabelle’s online exhibition and biography can be found on the NOW SHOWING tab above, or by clicking here.

introducing zoe elms

Today we open an online exhibition by an extremely talented painter, Zoe Elms.

I was fortunate enough to ‘bump’ into Zoe’s work recently whilst walking around the Yarraville Festival.  A born abstract thinker, Zoe is inspired by life’s everyday candid moments and the pursuit of following one’s imagination. Overall her passion lies in bringing to life that what we feel but cannot usually see, energy.

Subject matter and motion play a huge role in Zoe’s work. Her paintings are vivid and expressionistic and often depict the beauty, sadness, power or essence of the simple things in life.

Zoe’s first exhibition with one hundredth gallery is titled ‘Chance’.

Zoe’s online exhibition and biography can be found on the NOW SHOWING tab above, or by clicking here.

introducing arnaldo ilagan

We are very excited to open the first of three online exhibitions by aspiring photographic artist, Arnaldo Ilagan.

Whilst Arnaldo has been working as a Software Engineer for the past 15 years, he has always been very interested in the arts – specifically painting, drawing, and photography.  Arnaldo originally got into photography as he wanted to take pictures of his children whilst they were growing up.

With the aim of improving his photography and taking his passion to the next level, he enrolled in the Photography Studies College. He is currently doing his final year of part time study of Advanced Diploma of Photography majoring in Commercial Photography.

Arnaldo’s first exhibition with one hundredth gallery is titled ‘Still Waters’.

Arnaldo’s online exhibition and biography can be found on the NOW SHOWING tab above, or by clicking here.

introducing aggie koczwara

Today we introduce you to an aspiring photographic artist named Aggie Koczwara.

During the past few years, Aggie’s particular interest has been in macro photography, focusing on the finer details, the textures, and the tiny wondrous idiosyncrasies that the human eye often misses. She has also found inspiration in the work of Cindy Sherman and has developed her own style of emotive photography.

Aggie’s first exhibition with one hundredth gallery is titled ‘Unstructured Idea’.

Aggie’s online exhibition and biography can be found on the NOW SHOWING tab above, or by clicking here.

we’re almost there!

Sorry that it has been a while between updates.  There hasn’t been too much report until now.

The gallery is now fully painted.  The sign writing has been ordered and the sound system is in.  There is still a bit of cleaning to do and a couple of items of furniture to purchase; but we’re almost there!

After incessantly emailing and calling the council planning department during the past three days, I found out today that there were no objections to my application – hooray!

Unfortunately, they haven’t been clear with what the process looks like from here.  All they have said is that they will aim to get to it by the end of next week.  I’m not sure what ‘it’ is but hope that it is the issuing of the permit.

Fingers crossed, we’re still on track to open our doors in mid-May… most probably Wednesday the 18th.

Until then, we have at least two more artists to introduce you to; in addition to Marie-Lise Laviolette and Karin Zeller.

introducing karin zeller

We are proud to open a new Online Exhibition today by artist Karin Zeller.  Born in Germany, Canadian by nationality, and now residing in Melbourne, Karin Zeller has worked as a professional artist since 1990, when she started Personal Touch Portraits, which resulted in hundreds of portrait commissions over a 5 year period.

Karin’s first exhibition with one hundredth gallery is titled ‘Fanciful Felines’.

“For this exhibition, I’ve chosen to feature some of my cat creations. My love of abstract was born about 20 years ago, when I created my first tiger abstract. I’ve always loved cats, but never liked painting them until I stumbled upon Laurel Burch’s colourful cats.  Other influences who have inspired my colourful abstract style are Picasso and Paul Klee.” – Karin Zeller

Karin’s online exhibition and biography can be found on the NOW SHOWING tab above, or by clicking here.
