J Kim

J Kim is a visual artist based in Melbourne. Also known as @pentraveller, J Kim’s artworks represent a wide range of imagery, style and depth but she has always been focused on depicting people’s lives.  She is often found in places where she can observe the everyday and how people interact or generally go about life. Her interests are movement with particular detail on eyes, faces, gestures and characteristics. The cafe Scene series is a part of J Kim’s first project as an independent artist, capturing Melbourne’s great cafe and coffee culture. She has chosen to draw 100 cafes in Melbourne; visiting each of them to capture the charm that only those cafes have. The project will culminate in a published book and is still ongoing.
